Theatre Class Descriptions
Theatre FUNdamentals A: (Ages 8 - 11) This class will introduce theatre vocabulary and a knowledge of the layout of a theatrical stage, different types of stages, stage positions, working as a team in ensemble, auditioning, limited theatre history as it applies to theatre today and beginning acting. All this is introduced in a relaxed setting with lots of opportunity for theatre games and experiential learning.
Ages are approximate and final class placement will be evaluated by the instructor after a 1-2 week trial period.
Theatre FUNdamentals B (Ages 11 – 18) This class will introduce theatre vocabulary and a knowledge of the layout of a theatrical stage, different types of stages, stage positions, working as a team in ensemble, auditioning, limited theatre history as it applies to theatre today and beginning acting. Acting 1A (Ages 8-11) 1B (Ages 11 – 18)
This class will work on overcoming stage fright, character building, working in ensemble and begin to introduce different acting. Pre-requisite: Theatre FUNdamentals and/or coming with much stage experience and basic knowledge of theatre. techniques.
Acting 2A (Ages 8-11) 2B (Ages 11 – 18) (Not available this year)
Pre-requisite: ACTING 1 and/or much stage experience and some knowledge of acting techniques. Enrollment is based on instructor approval.
Intermediate Acting: (Ages 13 – 18 ) This class will cover in-depth different acting styles and techniques by masters such as Stanislovski, Meisner, Hagen, etc. Enrollment is based on instructor approval.
Musical Theatre 1A (Ages 8-10) 1B (Ages 11-18)
This class is designed for beginning musical theatre experience. Students will explore skills, the development of both story and character through movement, basic lyrical dance and working in ensemble.
Musical Theatre 2A (Ages 8-10) 2B (Ages 11-18) (Not available this year.)
This class furthers skills learned in Level 1 and gives increased opportunity to explore character development through both movement and dialogue.
Technical Theatre: (Ages 14 up)
This class will explore different areas of technical theatre such as stage management, make-up, costuming the first semester and set design and construction the second semester. This class will meet at the Legacy Theatre venue - Heritage Fellowship, 316 W. Old AJ Hwy.
