KARA MOSSDirector + DANCE Department headKara Moss, was raised in a home where the appreciation of and the participation in the arts was valued and encouraged. She began taking dance classes at the age of three and it has been a significant part of her life since. Her primary focus in training has been ballet and pointe, but she has also had experience in modern and contemporary. Kara studied dance under Dawn Pruszkowski at Illuminer Fine arts Studio in Morristown, TN as well as Studio Arts in Knoxville, TN. While living in Dagestan, Russia she had the opportunity to study Ballet and Pointe with the St. Petersburg Ballet.
Kara earned her bachelors degree in human development with a minor in early childhood development from East Tennessee State University. This background is a tremendous asset in the development and instruction of curriculum for Fuzion School of the Arts lower school dance classes. In January of 2012, Kara, along with her sister MacKenzie Myers, founded Fuzion. They opened the doors with a desire to be a place where students would grow in both skill and technique but also in character. When she’s not at Fuzion, you’ll find her homeschooling her children, being with family, serving at her church, Heritage Fellowship, reading a good book, or sipping on some hot tea. My Why… “Being involved in the arts is about more than learning a new skill or getting the chance to use your talents. It’s about growth as a person. The arts can draw you out of your comfort zone as you try new things and learn that you are more capable than you thought. I have seen, first hand, the transformation that happens as a student finds a safe place to grow…and it’s beautiful. I love watching a student gain confidence and seeing them recognize their own unique value and how they can bring that value to the world around them.” |
