Melody basingerVisual art department headMelody grew up with parents who loved arts and crafts. Seeing her interest in the arts, Melody's family encouraged her to pursue her passion. At a young age, Melody began drawing pictures in a sketchbook, basing her drawings on illustrations she would find in books. Her parents purchased self-guided instructional books to help her develop technique and improve her skills. When Melody first attended college, she majored in visual art and, though sickness caused her to abandon that college degree, Melody never lost her love of the visual arts.
Through the years, Melody has participated in various art classes and has worked on developing her artistic skills on her own time. She considers herself a lifelong learner and appreciates the space that Fuzion provides for people of all ages to pursue the arts. Melody earned a B.A. in Management and Human Resources from Trevecca Nazarene University and a Master of Business Administration at Carson-Newman University. She implements the skills learned through these degrees in her role as the Visual Arts Department Head and as Director of Finance and Operations. Melody enjoys time with family and friends, reading, and serving at her church. My Why.... To create a safe space, so that students, parents, and teachers can create, express, and grow in the arts and as a person. |
